The Best U.S. Cities For A Weekend Trip

Washington, D.C.

The best time of year to visit Washington D.C. is either in the fall or spring. In the fall Washington D.C. becomes the perfect fall wonderland; along the National Mall, there are trees everywhere that are changing colors and shedding their leaves. In the spring you can find Cherry Blossom trees everywhere you look around D.C. There’s even an event called the Cherry Blossom Festival at the end of March, where you can enjoy everything there is about Cherry Blossom trees! One of the best parts about D.C. is that nearly every museum has free entrance and the city is very walkable (but also has a great metro system), so you’ll easily save a ton of money. With the money you saved from sightseeing, you’ll definitely want to splurge on some nice meals, as D.C. has some incredible restaurants all around the city.

Chicago, Illinois

There is truly nothing better than summer in Chicago. The city is aligned against Lake Michigan and is equipped with beautiful beaches all along the shore. The best part is all of these beaches have different takes to them; some are for big groups who want to be rowdy, some are for pet owners to bring their furry friends, and some are quiet beaches for families or people who are looking for a relaxing day. The sightseeing opportunities are endless in Chicago; you can go up to the Skydeck at the Willis Tower (or the Sears Tower as any Chicago native would call it), go to a Cubs baseball game, or walk around and experience all of the cultures every neighborhood has to offer. The absolute best thing Chicago has to offer is the food. There is no bad restaurant in Chicago, and for the most part, things are affordable. Chicago should be at the very top of your bucket list.

New Orleans, Louisiana

As expected, Mardi Gras season is thought to be the best time to visit New Orleans. During Mardi Gras, there is always something going on in New Orleans, and during other times of the year, it’s nearly just as fun. There’s never a dull moment in New Orleans, and there’s something to do to please everyone. Whether you’re interested in nightlife, history, food, or sightseeing, New Orleans will be a weekend to remember for you.
