Animals have always been something intriguing to humans. They are colorful, furry, friendly, angry, among many more features. Some remain on land, some remain in the sea, some fly and some stay underground. They are truly magnificent. At this time we are very aware of tons of animals, having had years to research them. This is where it gets interesting. We have discovered the rarest animals that don’t quite fit the bill. Some of these animals just don’t seem real? Continue on to discover some of the animals that are colors that you would never expect them to be!

50 Animals In Colors That You Wouldn’t Expect
Half Albino Peacock
Peacocks are renowned for their beautiful blue and green feathers. This peacock is amazing because half of the feathers are the traditional blue and green, whereas the other half are fully white! The contrast is stunning and very unique. We wonder what caused this color change. Was it a mutation? Hopefully we will get to see one, one day.

Half Blue And Green, Half White Peacock
The Pelagic Thresher
The Pelagic Thresher is a type of shark that is especially unique. This is because the way that the light hits the skin of the shark radiates stunning colors that you won’t see on any other shark. We wonder how the shark developed this iridescent feature. In actuality, it looks like holographic paper! We do hope this fisherman returned the shark to the water after.

The Pelagic Thresher
Halloween Snake
Snakes are scary enough aren’t they! They slither and give off a creepy, sinister vibe. This snake looks even scarier than normal ones though! If you look carefully you will see that the snake has a pattern of a scary pumpkin on it! Are snake patterns exclusive to Halloween? Is it possible we will see a snake with a Christmas tree on it this December? Who knows.

Halloween Snake
Black Turtle
It is not every day you see a black turtle! Who knew that they do actually exist though! This turtle is matte black, so if it’s nighttime you almost certainly won’t see him. We don’t quite know how this black turtle came to be, or the reason for its color. We think he looks very cool though, different from the typical green/brown color. He is rare and unique.

Black Turtle
Multicolored Eyes On A Cat
Even though it is rare, there is a chance that you’ve seen a cat (or even a person) with two different colored eyes. Have you ever seen an animal with two different colors inside a single eye? It is pretty much a split right down the middle too! The condition is called Sectorial Heterochromia Iridis, and we think against the white fur, this array of colors is just stunning.

Multicolored Eyes On A Cat
A Golden Beetle
This beetle looks like it could be solid gold! We love the golden shine coming off of the insect, it doesn’t look real, but it is! You can only find these golden beetles in Maine. We’re not sure why exactly, but this is a fact! Keep a lookout for these beautiful creatures if you ever visit Maine!

A Golden Beetle
Dog With A Clown Face
A dog with a very unique face, he looks like he’s fed up with all the attention! The reason for the interesting pattern on this pup, is that he has a condition called vitiligo. Fortunately vitiligo doesn’t affect the dogs health, it won’t physically harm them. It just looks interesting! Your pup should remain their happy selves and have an interesting fur color!

Dog With A Clown Face
Purple Frog
Though it may look aesthetically cool, we must know by now that it is possibly dangerous. Strange colors usually involve poison, so it’s very possible that frogs with colors quite like this shouldn’t be touched! Surprisingly, purple frogs are not that rare. In the wild there are many different colored frogs, just make sure you don’t touch them!

Purple Frog
White Moose
Surely a pure-white moose isn’t a daily occurrence! The albino moose is quite rare, but he can still take you out with a single kick! We are glad that people aren’t too aware of this moose, this surely reduces the risk of it being hunted for sport. The white moose runs freely, they have no sanctuary and we need to do more to preserve these beings.

White Moose
Gold and Black Cockatoo
Doesn’t this cockatoo just look like a fancy cockatoo! He is golden and exotic, he knows what’s what. This particular bird is native to Australia and is frequent sighting. Non-natives will be surprised though! The pattern is fantastic, and despite its unfriendly exterior, it is actually a very friendly bird that will never harm you. It will mostly keep to itself.

Gold And Black Cockatoo
Blue Bananas!
The first non-animal on the list is indeed the blue banana! Usually bananas are either yellow, brown or green; but blue? Seems odd. They are called blue java bananas and the blue indicates that the bananas are not ripe. Once ripe, they eventually turn yellow. This type of banana will be found mostly in South East Asia, but also Hawaii and Fiji.

Blue Bananas
White Humpback Whale
Albino animals seem quite common! According to this list, anyway. So the next animal is the albino whale! According to research, this is the only whale that can be affected by this particular condition. It is currently estimated that there are only around 4 or 5 albino humpbacks in the world. The whale pictured below was spotted in 1991, Australia. Two more whales were spotted in Australia and another was spotted in Norway.

White Humpback Whale
A Golden Possum
Guess where this golden possum was spotted? Australia! This land really seems like the place to discover all sorts of interesting animals. He was nicknamed Pikachu for his color and is actually very cute! Sometimes possums aren’t the best looking animals, but this one is an exception.

A Golden Possum
A Golden Mouse
So you’ve seen the golden possum, but what about a golden mouse! The mouse pictured below is called the Satin Texel mouse. It is the satin gene that gives these mice curly hair and such colors as the gold you can see here, but also silver among others. If we had to guess prior to the researching the satin gene aspect, we would have assumed that someone had dyed the mouse gold and given it a blow dry for the fur effect!

A Golden Mouse
The Polka Dotted Zebra
This zebra has been the center of a certain topic for as long as we have known what it is. That topic would be whether it is black with white stripes, or white with black stripes! Traditionally, we have assumed white with black stripes, but maybe we’re wrong! This small zebra is brown with white polka dots! Now we are confused. We also worry for this zebra’s safety in the wild, he is obviously more noticeable than the average zebra. Hopefully his mother can protect him well enough.

The Polka Dotted Zebra
Black Chinchilla
Many animals come with fur as dark as this chinchilla, but that is usually a dog, a jaguar- not a chinchilla! Chinchillas are an adorable animal after all; nobody would expect them to be black! Sadly, people take the fur of the chinchilla and use it’s fur for coats; a cruel practice. Even though they are so cute, they don’t enjoy being picked up or held. They make a sweet pet though.

Black Chinchilla
Star-Eyed Owl
The owl in this picture is a rescue, and blind. He is absolutely adorable and you will surely get lost in his eyes. You can see all sorts of astronomical delights in his massive eyes and he is friendly! He resides in California and is well taken care of. His name is Zeus and he is the cutest owl you’ll ever see.

Star Eyed Owl
The Cat With Two Fur Tones
Have you ever seen a cat colored quite like this? Sure, cats often have mixed colors in their fur, but htis cat is split directly down the middle with grey and black! It is quite amazing really. If you were on the left side, you would think that Narnia was a black cat. If you were on the right side, you would think he is a gray cat! We’re unsure how this actually happened, but he sure looks cool.

The Cat With Two Fur Tones
The Half-Brunette, Half-Blonde Girl
Sure, anyone can dye their hair different colors on each side, but this girl hasn’t actually done this! You will even notice her eyebrows and eyelashes, both different colors! Are her arm and leg hairs the same? The girl certain has a unique look to her, she looks awesome!

The Half Brunette, Half Blonde Girl
The Golden Horse
We love horses. They are elegant, majestic, beautiful creatures. This horse is clearly more royal than the others though! He is golden, literally. We haven’t seen quite this shade on a horse before and he looks really cool. What gives this horse such shiny, thick hair? We can’t really know, we need to get a horse whisperer in so they can ask!

The Golden Horse
Jet-Black Deer
This black deer is another beauty that blows us away with its elegance. Black deer are rare and he has the freedom to move about as freely as he would like. One issue that the deer may face however, is suspecting drivers not being able to see him at night. We hope he manages to look after himself and avoid roads at night-time.

Jet Black Deer
White Reindeer
Isn’t this reindeer absolutely adorable? He matches the snow that he is walking on! He is surely a fine addition to Rudolph and co on Santa’s sleigh. This reindeer has no fear and is looking straight at the camera, the pose shows that he was ready for the attention.

White Reindeer
White Giraffe
Traditionally white, tan or yellow coated, this giraffe is fully white! A giraffe sighted in Kenya, he is actually the victim of a very sad story. His family was killed by poachers, which resulted in people fitting him with a tracker, preventing him from being poached himself. We need to take extra steps to prevent albino animals being hunted, they are rare.

White Giraffe
Black & White Puppy
A very rare pup, he has a black head with a white body. We have never seen a color split quite like this, we wonder what causes it. We think Yin Yang would be a great name for him, seeing how the colors split so nicely. We love this dog, he is stunning!

Black & White Puppy
Black Flamingo
Everyone has seen a pink or white flamingo, but how often have you seen a black one? Probably never, because they are extremely rare! Despite looking fairly villainous, he is actually just as adorable as his counterparts. Who knows what turned him black? Well it is likely a result of melanism. Melanism causes excessive melanin, leading to a full black color. Are there more flamingos like this out there? Maybe.

Black Flamingo
Siberian Iridescent Clouds
Aren’t these clouds just fantastic! They were spotted in Siberia and they look like they have just come from a Pixar movie! Featuring majestic colors, only someone as talented as Bob Ross could paint something like this! The cause of this color is the scattering of small ice droplets.

Siberian Iridescent Clouds
Cross Fox
The Cross Fox is a variant of red fox, a partially melanistic variation of fox that you won’t find anywhere else. The cross fox is notorious for having a dark stripe fully down its back, which goes on to intersect with another. The end result is a cross forming over the shoulders. The end result? The cross fox. The fox has stunning eyes and lovely looking fur, it is aggressive though! It will certainly outsmart you, so steer clear and enjoy from a distance.

Cross Fox
Albino Wood Turtle
The opposite of the black turtle, this turtle is even rarer! The Albino Wood turtle is super rare and made up of very unique colors. Usually when animals have these kinds of colors, it implies that they are poisonous. This doesn’t fare true for this turtle though! He is harmless and very peaceful. Perhaps the colors do well in scaring off predators, though.

Albino Wood Turtle
Albino Raccoon
This raccoon doesn’t even look like a raccoon! Apparently this happens sometimes with raccoons, they aren’t always grey in colour with black burglar eyes. This raccoon certainly looks more like a possum, rather than a raccoon! It seems that the other raccoons have accepted him nonetheless, which is good.

Albino Raccoon
Hearty Chicken
Have you ever seen a chicken quite like this! We don’t think he’ll be eaten any time soon. It would be normal for an obscure shape every now and then on animal feathers/fur, but this chicken is completely consumed by hearts! Will the chickens that come from eggs laid by this animal will have the same pattern on their feathers too! We have never seen anything quite like this and we don’t think we will again any time soon.

Hearty Chicken
Yellow Cardinal
Yellow birds are quite a regular occurrence, but not for the cardinal. This color has occurred on this occasion due to a genetic mutation in the species. It is said that this mutation occurs once in every million or so cardinals, so it is very rare. He looks vibrant and exotic and the one pictured below was spotted in Alabama. They can be seen in a range of places, though.

Yellow Cardinal
Canadian Marble Fox
This animal has a strange name, but he is a mix of husky and fox. He is so cute! We want to cuddle it, but at the end of the day, he is a fox. Foxes don’t often have such relationships with humans. We think he is fluffy and sweet-looking, but keeping a half-fox isn’t a good idea, he just isn’t a suitable pet!

Canadian Marble Fox
A Black Stop Sign?</h2
So the color on this stop sign is aesthetically pleasing, but stop signs are red, and red for a reason. If a sign is red, a passerby or driver will see them far in the distance and know what they will be even if they can’t read them. At night, people will especially struggle to read this sign. Bad idea.

A Black Stop Sign
Strawberry Colored Finch
This type of finch is rare but exceptionally beautiful. Native to tropical Asia, if spotted this finch is often caged and kept as a pet. This is actually a shame, as these birds belong in the wild and even though nature has gifted us a beautiful sight, it should be just that- a sight.

Strawberry Colored Finch
Beige-Spotted Dalmatian
When you think of Dalmatians, you surely think of the white dog with black spots. Have you ever seen a Dalmatian with beige spots on their coat instead though? They are rare, but recognized by the American Kennel Club.

Beige Spotted Dalmation
Red & White Flower
This flower is just stunning! Sometimes it is hard to choose the white or red rose, but this one makes the decision easy for you! The split has occurred as a result of a mutation, where the red pigment is produced during the development process. The flower is the result of only half the pigment actually being produced. These flowers are rare because as conscious beings, error rate is low.

Red & White Flower
Black Petunias
It isn’t often that you will see black flowers naturally, which renders black petunias as a rare sighting. If you had these in your garden, people would really think you had painted them! The upkeep and maintenances of these flowers would be a lot because it needs a lot of care to maintain the color. We want these flowers in our home! They would provide a lot of variety and diversity.

Black Petunia
Moth With A Chicken On It’s Back
I don’t know how much time you have ever spent looking at moths, but I guarantee you have never seen a moth quite like this. Firstly, it is entirely white. This allows us to fully distinguish any other markings it might have on it, such as the chicken face you can clearly see here! How bizarre that this moth exists! Unfortunately, we think he might be the laughing stock among his peers. Luckily moths aren’t so into appearances.

Moth With A Chicken On It’s Back
The Deformed Sea Turtle
Many believe that this turtle is actually albino, but he is in fact a regular sea turtle! The only difference is the lack of pigment featured on a regular sea turtle. When leucistic, the turtles develop deformities like a missing eye or pigment-issues. This is what has caused the pigment issue in this turtle!

The Deformed Sea Turtle
Cat With A Brown Coat
This cat is super-fashionable, he rocks that brown coat! Where her face is black fur, the body has a beautiful contrast, giving off a glorious color. We wonder what could have caused this color change. Perhaps it was genetic, but whatever the case, she is unique!

Cat With A Brown Coat
Black Duck
Have you ever seen a black duckling before? Now you have! Ducks come in various colors, but what has caused this? We’re not too sure, but he appears jolly and happy so, so are we! This little guy is having the time of his life and fits nicely in his owner’s hand.

Black Duck
Pink-Nosed Cat
This cat’s nose is just adorable! It just screams “boop me”! It does resemble the Tesla logo, just about. Perhaps Elon should recruit this furry guy for his next advert! Aside from the nose, he is adorable anyway and will surely sell a car or two!

Pink Nosed Cat
Blue Lobster
Lobsters are red, aren’t they? Well we’ve seen red lobsters, brown lobsters, but blue lobsters? No way. Well look again, here he is! If you ever see a little guy quite like this, put him back in the ocean, he is unique and deserves to live! We need to look after our rarer animals; they offer us biodiversity and this makes our planet sustainable.

Blue Lobster
Brown Seal
All the seals in this picture have the same expression on their faces, but there is one that is more noteworthy than the others. Where all the other seal pups are black, he is bright and brown! We’re not sure if this is a common occurrence in seal pups, but we love this little guy!

Brown Seal
Colorful Lizards
What beautiful colors we can see here on these lizards! They come in all sorts of colors, but there’s something about the four lizards here standing side-by-side that is so aesthetically pleasing. From brown to white, there seems to be quite a spectrum!

Colorful Lizards
A Clear Lemon Pie
A delicious treat, it may be a good alternative to a regular lemon meringue pie. The transparent look comes from the gelatin used in the pie. If you like gelatin-desserts, this is one for you! Give it a try, you might even enjoy it.

A Clear Lemon Pie
The Black Gecko
This gecko is trying to look scary, but he just comes across as super cute! This little dragon is a perfect pet choice, he is actually harmless.

The Black Gecko
Shiny Lobster
This lobster is ridiculously shiny! We are stunned by his beauty! Equally as rare as his blue counterpart a few pages back, we hope nobody decides to cook this lobster and turn him red! He definitely needs to return to the sea.

Shiny Lobster
Glitched Zebra
This zebra certainly has a strange design to it doesn’t he! Instead of traditional stripes, he seems to have random squiggles! This is a cool design and we are sure he stands out to his friends, we just hope he doesn’t feel insecure.
