When he approached the tree, Smith noticed that the bark was loose. Kyle started barking very loudly. Smith, feeling inspired, braced himself and peeled it back, exposing the hollow within the oak. Suddenly, after he had looked into the darkness, his eyes were focused, and he jumped up. It was not drugs, however.
