Maui’s hook is always with him
Maui, Moana’s deuteragonist, is a cocky demigod who reluctantly helps Moana in her quest. One of his many fascinating powers is the ability to shape-shift thanks to his magical hook. Many people felt there was a story hole here because where does the hook go when Maui isn’t in his natural form?
Rather than disregarding the issue, Disney devised the ultimate solution. The hook shows as markings on whichever body Maui is in when he shape-shifts. It’s quite clever!
Tangled’s nod to previous princesses
Throughout the previous few decades, Disney films have increasingly made reference to some of the Disney family’s earlier classics. Easter eggs are small objects or images that appear in the background of sequences that pays tribute to another film and are hidden in plain sight, as they’re known among film fans.
Tangled’s Rapunzel bedroom, for example, contains references to various Disney princesses. These are only a handful of the options. The spindle, of course, is a reference to Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, while the dresser is a nod to Beauty And The Beast.
