Inappropriate Staring
In comparison to previous years, Clare and her friends have seen several chaperones inside the room. The fathers of the students who were staring down from the balcony were many of the observers. This was to keep an eye on the people in attendance. They may have glanced down at the event to watch the girls dance. The girls were becoming uncomfortable with the atmosphere of prom night.
