The image of Jesus that is widely known by people across the world is a long-haired man wearing cream shabby robes and sandals and is white-skinned with blue eyes. Having this image be accepted by everyone, we believed it was right. We are wrong. The widely known image is not accurate at all. Did you ever think that maybe one of the closest people of Jesus back in their time passed down an illustration of his image so we can all know how the Messiah looked like? Well, it was actually the opposite. People who were close to Jesus during their era rarely made a description of how Jesus looked like. It’s not like they forgot about it or they were too busy with what’s happening at that time that they had no time to do so. They actually did it on purpose to avoid idolatry. It was also included in the commandments of God. They believed that Jesus’ greatness can’t be contained in an image that is why no depiction of Jesus was ever made during that era. However, in the latter days after Jesus’ time, he became a famous man. He was widely known by many. Having no depiction of Jesus was a challenge for the painters but it did not become a problem as they created an image of Jesus in their own ideas. They made HIm somewhat similar to the Roman Gods.
