Mary Lee South, the mother of Tom Cruise, told the People magazine that her new daughter-in-law was “top-notch.” Mimi Rogers was previously married to Jim Rogers, a Scientology counselor. It was reported that this was the reason Tom Cruise turned on to religion. Wensley Clarkson, the author of Tom Cruise Unauthorized, told Entertainment Weekly last 2000 that “She took him under her wing.” However, the two of them soon announced that they were going to divorce in January 1990.
